- 125g farina
- 25g burro
- un pizzico di sale
- 2 uova
- 200ml latte
- 1 bustina di lievito
- 1 cucchiaio di zucchero
- zucchero a velo
- sciroppo d'acero
Altrimenti, come me all'americana, li impiliamo uno sopra l'altro, li cospargiamo di zucchero a velo e poi versiamo lo sciorppo d'acero a quantità !;) Buon Pancake Day a tutti!!

Let's start our sweet journey in England with a greedy dessert: Pancakes!
It is tradition in England to celebrate the day before Ash Wednesday with dishes of Pancakes.
Pancakes comes from North America, typically from Canada and accompany with maple syrup, but in England, as well as in the United States, this cake is very popular and not only consumed for brunch or a snack but especially at breakfast.
But there is one day in particular, on Shrove Tuesday, the last day to indulge yourself before the Lent, when the English people eat them in industrial quantities... so numerous that they even organize races of Pancake! They are eaten them because they contain enormous amount of fat, butter and eggs which are forbidden during Lent.
Mardi gras is also called "Shrove Tuesday" from the ancient word "to shrive", which means "to confess": in the Middle Ages people used to confess their sins so that they were forgiven before the season of Lent began.
Unlike American pancakes, they are typically thinner, sprinkled with sugar and a splash of lemon juice and then rolled. They are consumed together with maple syrup, known as "Golden Syrup" or jam.
Ingredients (for about 12 pancakes)

- 200ml milk
- 6g of yeast
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- icing sugar
- maple syrup
I had this very nice Mickey Mouse shaped Pancake toaster that I think for Carnival is perfect... So I chose to make them in the shape of Mickey Mouse! Of course, according to tradition they should be fry in pans.
First of all I divide the whites from the yolks. I add milk and melted butter to the egg yolks and I mix the ingredients well with a fork. Then I also add the baking powder and flour previously sifted well. I whip apart the whites not so much together with the pinch of salt and sugar and then I join the two compounds mixing them gently from the bottom upwards with a wooden spoon.
Now I heat the pan, basted with a little bit of butter, and I pour a bit into the pan. I move the pan so as to expand the cream and when it is golden brown I capsize it making also golden the other side. Once ready, I sprinkle them with caster sugar and I roll them up side by side and I cover them with a drizzle of maple syrup. Otherwise, like me American one, I pile them one above the other, sprinkle them with icing sugar and then I pour lot of the maple syrup above! ;) Happy Pancake Day to all!!
